Career Development & Experiential Learning
The MIT Center for Real Estate (CRE) encourages students to participate in career development and experiential learning activities throughout the school year.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
By participating in one or more of the three forms of experiential learning and career development, MSRED students are positioned for a seamless transition back into the workforce as real estate professionals.
WINTER EXTERNSHIPS
A short term, full time work assignment in either the US or abroad during the Independent Activities Period (IAP), which takes place during the month of January,
SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
Full time, paid, work assignment in the summer (Jun-Aug), either in the US or abroad (for students in the 16-month track only)

CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENTS
THOUGHT LEADER LECTURE SERIES (TL2)
A nontraditional guest lecture series taking place in the evening during the fall semester, followed by informal engagement with presenters by students over food and soft drinks. TL2 is always informative [and fun].
LUNCH + LEARNS
Professionals from the Real Estate field are invited to campus to present their work and engage with our students. These sessions expose students to various industry practices and building projects and break down the traditional learning environment into an interactive presentation session between professional(s) and students.
SIGNATURE EVENTS
Annual AACRE Holiday Party – A chance to celebrate the year behind and ahead with classmates, faculty, staff, and MSRED alumni. Locations vary but are typically located at a commercial property developed by alumni firms.
MIT World Real Estate Forum – An annual event hosted by CRE, students are invited to attend the Forum, which brings together a global consortium of real estate professionals for learning through panel discussions, as well as information sharing through formal presentations.

CRE JOB BOARD
The CRE has a dedicated job board for MSRED students to explore a number of career and experiential learning opportunities. Dr. Kelly Cameron, the Center's Career Development Officer, will be introducing the CRE Job Board during orientation. It is in your best interests to sign up and familiarize yourself with the platform early so that you make take advantage of networking and professional opportunities.
PROFESSIONAL MENTORING
Optional, year-long mentoring program that pairs MSRED students with a alumnus/ae of the program. Provides:

Career coaching,
Nonacademic information sharing and networking.
CRE RESUME BOOK
CRE creates a specialized resume book to feature each student participating in the MSRED program to share with partners and the professional community,
