OPT/COUHES/RESOURCES
For all students writing their thesis this summer, register for RED.THG for 12 unit when you Pre-Register for Summer semester.
Thesis is considered full-time study and incurs full summer tuition.
Any student who wants to write their thesis while participating in an internship must receive approval to do so from their thesis advisor. This request must include a proposed schedule of work and thesis completion.
International students – as thesis is considered full registration, you may only work up to 20 hours per week if you are participating in an internship in the US. If you plan to participate in an internship during the summer, you must obtain authorization for CPT prior to beginning work, and must register for the 11.962: Fieldwork: Real Estate. If you are planning to write your thesis in the fall and are only participating in an internship in the summer, the 20-hour per week limit will not apply.
OPT/SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
Students in the 16-month program may opt to do a summer internship
Domestic students do not need to register for a course to participate in an internship, as you have no visa requirements to meet.
If your employer requires that you participate as part of a course, please register for 11.962.
You will be charged tuition per unit. See the MIT web site for up-to-date rates
International students completing an internship during the summer, must complete the CPT process and register for 11.962 (1 unit)

You cannot begin working unless you have received CPT authorization
COUHES
All students must complete Couhes Training the in the spring semester, even if they will be submitting a fall thesis.
Due date is generally in late April. The following are qualified as COUHES faculty:
